ABOUT BASILDON

Located in the South East, Basildon is the economic powerhouse of Essex; it has first-class links to London by rail and road, stunning countryside, international air access, and nearby coastal villages. Basildon borough comprises the five main settlements of Basildon, Billericay, Wickford, Laindon and Pitsea. It's the largest economy on the river Thames after Canary Wharf and during the coming years its population is expected to exceed 200,000.

There is a strong history and sense of aspiration and entrepreneurial spirit in Basildon. As Essex’s largest economy, major manufacturers such as Case New Holland, Ford, Costa Coffee Roastery, Mayflower Underwater Film Studios and Leonardo UK are proud to call Basildon home – and advanced, innovative engineering is driving this region forward. Our successful small businesses and start-ups – nearly nine out of ten businesses in the borough employ less than nine people – also continue to contribute to a thriving, diverse economy.

But it’s not just business and commerce that shine through in Basildon. Our leisure facilities, urban green spaces and country idylls are second to none, such as the 111-acre Gloucester Park on the edge of the town centre and various nature reserves in the surrounding area. And, of course, our talented and diverse communities make Basildon the place it is today. It’s time to harness the skills, energy, and passion of our growing population to deliver a brighter future for the people of Basildon.
